Do I need to buy toys for newborn? or what months of age they start to like toys?

Hai Biggart: Fluoride in breastmilk: noWhy is it necessary in formula water: it's notFluoride is okay in trace natural amounts as sodium fluorideThe fluoride they use to fluoridate water supplies is actually toxic industrial waste. I am not making this up. Look it up. It's the most disgusting racket I've ever heard of, and I am boggled that we still are doing it, even in my fairly progressive "ecotopia"-striving community. People are so gullible, they believe anything they're told if it comes from some "expert."Fluoride is probably not a bad thing to have trace amounts of during the period of enamel formation because it probably does strengthen enamel, but there is no truly unbiased literature proving that it is completely safe. There can't be anyway, since the effects are small and cumulative. At any rate, fluoridating the water supply (especially with toxic waste) is IMO not an appropriate way to prevent cavities in children. I say stick with your bottled water. They'll! probably get traces of fluoride here and there, since your local supply is fluoridated.I was given fluoride tablets daily throughout childhood (!!) and I have mild fluorosis (white spots/uneven enamel, it's not that bad thank goodness). I never had a cavity in childhood, but eventually I did get them (either that, or I had a crooked dentist -- which is just as likely =P). Sure hope my bones are okay and that I haven't suffered CNS damage. I'll never know.

Willa Holte: Bright colorful objects are good for a newborn. Things that spin or make some motion are also good. These things stimulate brain development. You also need to buy some books with colorful pages and pictures to read to the baby. Congrats on your baby.

Lonnie Jehle: I'd only get a cot mobile for a newborn. And it would still take a few weeks before they'd notice it. If you do get one, go for one with bright colours, babies will not notice beige, cream and other soft pastel colours. My baby had n! o interest in actual toys until she started grabbing things at! about 2..5, 3 months old. She had no time for rattles etc before that. At 8 months now, she has no interest in any soft toys (teddies, dollys etc) still, so a big waste of money there, but maybe that's just my one....Show more

Vickie Sterbenz: My hubby uses flouride free toothpaste( I hate the taste..can't switch). Flouride does not make your teeth white, it was used originally to help the enamel. It is basically a poison....if you ate the tube of toothpaste you would be sick (there are other things in the tube, but the flouride would be one of the poisons)!!Nursery water is distilled water with flouride. I use just store bought distilled. You can boil tap water to get the same effect. Just don't give plain tap water to your infant!!!!!!Good Luck

Freeman Rutkin: flouride is what makes your teeth whiter not have stains but my doc never made a big deal out of the flouride didnt even know about it until here.

Carlee Tangaro: Ok, I was thinking.... Does breas! tmilk have flourie in it? If not, then why is flouride so necessary in water that is mixed with formula? How do babies that are only breastfed get this "necessary" compound? I had just asked a question about nursery water, and it was brought to my attention what too much flouride can do to a person, which is scary after researching it! I discovered flourosis, which is permanent teeth damage, and it causes stains on teeth. The tap water where I live is gross- it just tastes salty, and people get stained teeth from it, which leads me to believe there might be high amounts of flouride in the tap water here... what should I do?

Bruce Calise: Yeah, but too much flouride can cause discoloring of the teeth- flourosis. And, people that drink the tap water in this area get stained teeth- no kidding... It's weird..

Raye Tredennick: Many breastfed babies will not take a bottle if mommy is right there- ours will not and our son refused as well. Is it necessary to breastfeed! in public: why yes it is, unless you want a screaming baby in public. W! hich would bother you more???Don't worry, I always carry an extra blanket with me to hand to anyone who has an issue with it...they can cover THEIR heads.

Abby Herwood: There is nothing wromg with breast feeding in public. Ppl are just not use to seeing mothers hanging out their breast in public. Mothers just use bottle if they can't really breast feed their baby, only some sort of contingency.

Hunter Beech: I just bought some from costco and am wondering if I can give it to my eight month old?

Rosella Figliola: You shouldn't go all out and buy a lot of toys because they grow really fast. As they get older you will need to buy toys that accommodate to their age because toys are also used for learning. Baby toys will have an age to them and you should start by buying like 0-3 or 0-6 months. Good luck!

Victor Macallister: My son is breastfed, but I do suppliment with formula occasionally (around 2 oz a day) and we mix it with Glenwood (bottled water co! oler water, similar to culligan water) and the doc has never said anything to me about it. My SIL said she never used nursery water or water with flouride because flouride is not good for teeth. Hope this helps.

Alisa Kaleiwahea: Because, If you only nursed at home, you would be home all the time. Many breastfeeding moms never use bottles, simply due to the fact that they aren't necessary.

Raul Tllo: LOL, Rock on NY_Attitude xD, and if they aren't comfortable with the blanket, the Homosapien neck was made a pivot joint for a reason. (Turn your head and don't look).I had alot of my family over around christmas for me birthday, and my second cousin just sat in the loungeroom, and breastfeed her new baby, Granted this isn't the first baby shes breastfeed here anyway, so its notthing new to me, or anyone in my extended (probably disfunctional, because who's isn't) family.Breasts are just breasts, they can be good to look at, but they're main, definitive, and best ! purpose it to feed a baby.I' would have to say, alot of the problem com! es from Teenage boys not being taught how to respect women,... which has only caused an onset of increased self conciousness when baring parts of their body.Ladies, When you Breastfeed, whether you sneak off to a secluded park bench behind a tree, or do it in open public, Do it proud, You are doing your babies, and the human race a great service, and are slowly correcting a slew of health problems created by the failure that is formula. As the male of the species, i can say i am truly proud, and awed by your determination, those of you who i know, had quite a number of Trials to overcome, Keep up the good work, and one day Breastfeeding will be the norm once again. The female body was made to do all that the males couldn't do, and a mothers job is the most important one there is in the world.

Troy Staton: who ever said it is not decent, is in need of some psychotherapy.feeding a baby is always decent. no matter what the container is like. I have a pretty big circle of! breastfeeders around me, in real life and in this imaginary online world... and don't know any that would carry a bottle with them if they also nursed on the breast. Only the ones who pump exclusively would pack a bottle of momma's milk to take with them. Breastfeeding violates NO laws against indecency. Now if a mom gets all mad because some ignorant person is telling her she's being indecent, and she goes postal and takes her shirt off... well, she'll still not be convicted, as defending her child's right to eat in public would cause some temporary insanity.

Venetta Coulbourne: Many valuable opinions already for this

Cassey Hollinghurst: My daughter started liking toys and grabbing for them at 4.5 months she now like to put them in her mouth. She has about 5 for around the house a few for the tub and 2 in the diaper bag when we are out. I got the ones that have a ring on them or when we go to the store so this way she cannot throw it of the cart. I will ! not by more until she express a bigger interest

Rickey Vrieze: im! not agaisnt it or anything, but why do some women breast feed in public and always carry a bottle with them?so is it necessary to breastfeed in public or use a bottle instead. since it is considered to be atleast descent from what i heard

Chastity Doderer: considered to be atleast descentAre you saying the descendants of women who breastfeed in public can only breastfeed in public? Youre question doesnt make sense..Women who breastfeed dont carry bottles with them, unless they have pumped the milk and put it in a bottle....Then i suppose that is a form of breastfeeding in public.

Anibal Scheid: I breastfeed, but I ALWAYS carry a spare bottle of breast milk (sometimes 2) with me when I leave the house. I have a few reasons for it:I might not be the one to feed the baby. My husband might need to feed the baby in the car while we're driving.I might have pumped just before I left and I might not have enough milk to satisfy my daughter if she gets hungry while we'! re out. She'll breastfeed, but still want more after she's done.If something happened to me, there would be a few hours of food available.Sometimes my daughter gets overwhelmed in busy situations and she's too fussy to breastfeed. She doesn't want to spend the time to latch on, she'd rather have the quick fix comfort of the bottle. And, sometimes she prefers Poppa's deep voice and big arms to comfort her. There may be many other reasons that I have never thought of, but those are mine.I still choose to breastfeed in public, just so you know, but only when it's convenient for me. I think that everyone should do what is comfortable for them. And, I really don't think highly of the people who feel the need to bash those who are on the opposite side of the breast/bottle feeding debate.Edit: I have had problems with my milk supply, so I pump before and after each feeding. The bottles are there for my husband during the middle of the night, mainly, but there's no reason for ! the milk to go unused either. I don't just pump a bottle to go shoppin! g.

Lucrecia Laurito: This is up to the parents. Newborns like to sleep a lot and don't have the dexterity to grab toys. For now.....just give the parents tons of diapers for the newborn.

Donte Hamme: As a newborn baby's eyesight is not fully developed, high contrast 'toys' are a good idea - ideally black on white, avoid pastel colours. You could get a scrunchy baby book in contrasting colours to show the baby (but don't expect him/her to actually play with it - just hold it close to their face whilst they lie on their back and scrunch it, talk about the pictures etc). But for the first 3/4 months you don't really need toys. You could perhaps start to introduce a comforter early on, like a little soft teddy or something if you'd like. Mobiles are good too above the cot, helps their eyes to learn to focus. And wrist rattles are nice to help them learn cause and effect (they move their hand, they make the rattle make a noise). i know it;s tempting to by lots ! of lovely expensive toys, but baby's don't care about that - my son;s favourite toys are spoons and brushes! Maybe try collecting some safe objects from around your house such as wooden pegs, ping pong ball, washing up sponge, flannel, curtain rings etc.. and put them in a shallow basket for the baby to play with (from around 3 months or so) - google 'treasue baskets' for more info on this idea. Good luck! x...Show more

Virgil Menefee: I breast fed all 3 of my children. My kids really did not want bottles.I however, did have a bottle and formula in the diaper bag for emergencys. What if I had to leave my child with someone all of a sudden. I couldn't leave them foodless.I see nothing wrong with nursing in public. Its natural and before bottles and formula... I am sure its all mothers had. I was always careful about exposing myself... I didn't want to be rude or anything while nursing either.

Rebbecca Sorkin: i'd be extra apprehensive about your thyroid if i ha! ve been you. What you may do (and through the way it is heavily contain! ed in the incorrect position, although i do get the "third eye" ingredient) is to take some hydroxylapatite, that you'll get from a mineral position, grind it up and deposit it in a jug into that you position your tap water. The fluoride will then bond with the apatite, it really is reminiscent of the mineral in enamel. A pestle and mortar received't do it yet some grindstones made from granite will be tremendous. you'd be wanting to interchange it on get jointly. Alternately, you would possibly want to get a distiller for water. i comprehend some those with those yet can not help with the position to get them. solid success. FWIW, i imagine they are heavily inaccurate and naive to fluoridate water, yet there are thoughts round it.

Efren Clankscales: some women may not be comfortable breast feeding in public but why go to the trouble of pumping into a bottle just because you're oging shopping for the day??? people need to get used to babies breast feeding its not lik! e you can see anything anyway?!! the nipple is usally in the babies mouth

Stanton Valdivia: None of us in this household ever drink tap water, not even my 4 year old. We drink bottled water only.

Jacques Teri: My own personal opinion on public breastfeeding is, if you are comfortable enough to do it, then do it.. cover up or not.. people like to preach the convienience of breastfeeding, but what is so convienient about struggling with a blanket and the baby latching on.. believe me.. I WAS THERE.. it was a nightmare.. when I have my next child.. I will feed him/her whenever, wherever, however.. of course I won't bust out my breast in front of a 12 yr old boy.. but if my child needs to eat, I will sacrifice my privacy for him/her .. you should have respect for others around you.. but then again.. they should have respect for you and not stair! We're not living in the 1950's .. also I don't look at a Mother's breast to be nudity, I see it as a feeding device f! or their child :) Just like a bottle.. or anything else! To each thei! r own though.

Dexter Dingus: I wouldn't even bother until baby is 3+ months old. My son started showing some interest around 4 months and my daughter around 4 1/2-5 months. Before then they had no idea what a "toy" is nor did they care!

Elden Dedon: My son is two months and I bought him a toy a week ago and he loves it I think

Theresia Fashaw: Congratulations! Our little girl loves the Fisher Price Oceans Wonders Aquarium. It goes it her crib and it plays music, lights up, and makes bubble noises. I got it as a gift, but I did see it at Target.

Frank Gazaway: Yes, I have. She loves it, generally with some yogurt and cinnamon, like oatmeal.Good luck!

Kim Gerbino: This stuff is far better than that infant boxed rice cereal garbage. http://wholesomebabyfood.momtastic.com/quinoababyf...

Buddy Ardd: You don't need toys for them to play with until they are about 3 months. That's when they'll hold it and put it in their mouths and really notice! it. Things that have patterns or that are black and white are interesting for newborns though.

Micah Schwarcz: Maybe a bottle of expressed milk so if baby is hungry in the car, and mom cant pull over?It is necessary to breast feed in public! That's mother natures way of nourishing babies! My thoughts, if someone doesn't want to see a mother breastfeeding, then they shouldn't be looking!

Lorelei Lilburn: Yes just rinse it really really well before cooking. It has a coating which causes horrible gas.
