Digital Optical?

Clemmie Burkleo: Sorry Paul, Digital and optical have nothing to do with sound. Optical is a better zoom. It uses lenses to magnify the object. A digital zoom takes the image and zooms in digitally. Most cameras now a days have pretty sharp digital zooms however, just make sure you try it out before you buy!Good luck

Ricardo Rozelle: It's an optical cable that allows the transmission of digital audio signals between your audio/video components. Normally, these audio signals are converted to analog when passed from one component to the other via the audio line connections (RCA jacks). This requires a digital-to-analog conversion prior to the audio signals leaving the audio source component, which means they are susceptible to outside interference as they travel through the audio cables. With the optical cable, the audio is still in digital form when being sent to another component and is not susceptible to outside interference. So, in theory, you get better audio! with a digital optical connection than you do with audio line connections....Show more

Soraya Coodey: digital and optical are two different things....they are zooms.. digital zooms more but takes away from picture quality as it zooms in. optical zoom keeps the sharp image as it zooms
