dental office volunteer work?? rip-off??? what do you think?

answers 0:i went for a job interview last week for a dental assistant job position. they had me try out for them twice (payed of course). they called me today and they said that i needed more experience and they would like to have me do free hours for them.i asked them would they hire me if i got better, and they said yes but they would like me to go and work for free. i wouldnt mind so much but then i asked them how many hours are we talking about and they said 8 hours a day for about 4 days every week. that's 32 hours in a week with no pay!!to me this sounds like a rip off cuz im not even getting paid for gas and here in Los angeles, its prety expensive. so what would u do?? would u do it to gain experience? or would u rather look for another job and actually get paid? i need money so tha! ts why im on the fense about this onei also called my school to get an opinion and they said that if they were in my shoes, they wouldnt do it cuz its free labor work....Show moreanswers 1:i already finished school and i did do internship for school so thats kinda why i dont want to do this because i already know what its likeanswers 2:To me it's called an internship. You can work for them for free while gaining experience which might get you a job with them or someone else. You can not work at all and continue to look for a job. You still have no money but you also aren't gaining any experience.answers 3:the ultimate place to start is along with your man or woman dentist. tell him of your plans to coach to dental college and ask for his help. he will probable be happy to allow you to come back in and be conscious him at his artwork. definite, in view which you do not have any journey you does no longer be able to do truly something yet you could benefit an incredible form o! f information by utilising staring at and listening. to show s! creen for some days provides you with a solid concept of what that's all approximately. you're able to properly be excited approximately your occupation decision or you're able to properly be grateful which you probably did somewhat examine formerly leaping in head over heels. i'm particular your dentist provides you with perception into dentistry and be overjoyed that may assist you in making your decision approximately starting to be a member of this occupation. solid success and that i'm hoping you will examine along with your dentist and luxuriate in each and every minute of a few time there....answers 4:The experience you would gain is very valuable. It depends on how much demand there is for dental assistants. Maybe they really like you, but have had bad experiences with recent graduates. If you decide to try it, call 'em up and tell them you're willing, but it's only fair that they pay $50 for gas and wear/tear on your automobile for the week. Otherwise, you're unfai! rly burdened with all the risk. If you're not hired, the dental office loses absolutely nothing, and you're out time and money. If they don't want to do this, then shine them on, they're not practicing sound business ethics and in the long run, they're not someone you will be happy working for.Good luck....
