Is it mandatory to have a land phone in an apartment?

Ollie Desalvo: Just give 'em your cell number. They don't really need your phone number for anything but contact info.

Truman Biby: Many utilities companies do require that you have a land line to set up an account with them. There's nothing saying that you have to keep the land line once the account is set up. If you're planning on having DirectTV you'll need to keep the land line.
