August Hubbard: If all you want is a GPS , there are great ones for well under $100.No need to wait for iphone. But to answer your main question, iphone will compete mostly with Treo and Blackberry, but then also with to one degree or another the other new smart phone offerings like blackjack and q. They look like they have gotten great reviews so far , but hard to tell what will happen.
