Stephnie Patout: In your situation home school may be a good option. Just so that you can do what ever it is you think you need to do. There are so many out there who think that home schooling is a bad idea simply because they seem to honestly believe that we live sheltered little lives and never let our kids out of the house. I a few extreme cases that may be true but for the most part we are very social. I think I would shoot myself if I couldn't go any where and had my kiddos all day long. I enjoy being out in public with them. they go with me every where except work. We have an absolute blast! I take the to the zoo or the aquarium on a regular basis just to get out. Good luck with it!...Show more
Violette Vanek: I was homeschooled throughout my entire school life. It's actually pretty cool because you get to do things on your own schedule and such. The only downside is, yes, less friends but there's still ways to hang out with people. I hung out with people from! my church, or others that I knew from my homeschooling group.
Merlin Fleischhacker: I personally have never been home schooled, I actually used to think that once I had kids, I would put them through homeschooling, But since then, my opinion has drastically changed. People need to be around other people of their generation. I was actually talking to a friend last night who was home schooled and he said he was frustrated at his parents because being in school really shapes you as a person, makes you stronger, helps you develop social skills; and as a Junior you are just developing those, and he missed out on all that. So for me, just as an observer and using the opinion and knowledge of my friend, I'd say sure, it's going to be hard...really hard, but it will make you have a better, stronger character....Show more
Piedad Bassiti: Whether or not you enjoy being homeschooling totally depends on not only you, the student, but also your teacher, usually parents. Som! e students really benefit from having the one on one attention! that homeschooling offers, but others have trouble focusing on schoolwork at home. I suggest that you MAKE homeschooling fun. Make your education a priority; take advantage of every day. When you finish next year (or however many years you homeschool) you won't have to suffer from not having a proper education. My younger brother is homeschooled this year, and doesn't particularly like being away from his friends during school, but he just tries to focus on his schoolwork and usually gets done early! You could become involved in some extra activities to keep from getting bored and to make new friends. Most libraries have teen reading clubs, some have free concerts and plays, etc. Good luck :)...Show more
Silvia Stclair: No there's noting wrong with home schooling. It may in fact be better than regular public school.
Buster Buchko: not really you get good grades and can finish school alot faster but on the down side its harder to make new friends
Bruce Cal! ise: Since you've been in regular school for the majority of your life, the only thing homeschooling will do is give you a sense of freedom. The most dangerous time to homeschool is when small children are involved, because if they don't get enough social activities implemented in their daily lifestyle, they might turn out being loners or people consider weird. But because you're being homeschooled for social reasons, you should be fine because you already have that social instinct implanted....Show more
Maye Delk: No, it isn't as bad as people think. People are usually misinformed. Of course, it can be bad, just like any school situation might be bad for a student. But, usually it is beneficial. In your case, it might be a good idea. High school can be rough enough without giving the jerks something extra to work with! The only thing that raises a warning to me, with you, is the rural word. Will you get any time with other teenagers? Will there be activities! for you to join in? Any clubs, even if they are mostly adults? A hom! eschooling group? (Just a warning, I wouldn't recommend a Christian group, even if they say they include all, I have seen them shun single mothers and anyone not quite to their "standards!") Homeschooling can be a great thing. You can really study up on the things that interest you. Just check out the Tennessee homeschooling laws. Can you go to community college at the same time? They are usually more mature and accepting by then....Show more
