What do you think should happen to improve college education?

Violette Vanek: Take away the cell phones so they can concentrate what the professor is teaching.

Monica Voltin: I like what Ginger had to say. I have had a few teachers go off spouting on with their own opinion and getting off topic for it.

Derrick Smsith: it would help if financial aid covered only programs that relate directly to the top 50% job categories that have projected growth in 5-8 years. why subsidize an education in something that the student has little to no change of being employed doing? if someone wants to major in creative writing, let them save their money.

Nestor Klan: Professors should teach what the students are paying them to teach. It is fraud when a student saves his money up until he can go to college, then instead of teaching the things the student paid to learn, the professor wastes time on spouting his own opinionsYes, I have college degrees, but I resent the time that the teachers wasted on things that had nothing to do with ! what I was supposed to be learning....Show more

Janean Guz: im glad to be smarter than cons!!!

Simona Bulwinkle: We need to rethink what constitutes "higher education" in the US. Yes, there's a place for the traditional view of college or university, where we train our engineers and doctors and teachers. But there's also a place for encouraging the "non-traditional" student to pursue further career training so we can have a highly skilled hands on work force. Encouraging true training and apprenticeships for electricians, carpenters, plumbers, etc. What we have now is a system that has the university folks looking down on the non-university folks -- but it seems to me that often the two skill sets rarely overlap. Ask a university philosophy professor to fix his highly technical car and he'll look at you blankly. Why is some knowledge considered more elite than other knowledge? I went to a service academy. I needed to pay my way through college and it was! the best option for me at the time. Free tuition (even minor! ly paid to go...) a top-ranked school, and a guaranteed job when I finished. It opened the door for me to do what I wanted to do. I worked my tail off to get in, to stay at the top of my classes, to compete athletically while in school, and to graduate with honors. Though in retrospect, I should have gone to the uber-liberal geek school that offered a full ride, but I'd have to live off ramen and peanut butter....Show more

Ulrike Hert: yes yes

Basil Blasingame: How about lets just do the same thing we always do and keep expecting different and better results.. its the only thing we know how to do.. just throw more tax payer money at it and make sure the government maintains its watchful eye. Sounds good people? Yea.. good.
